Beware of Telephone Scam!

There has been an ongoing telephone scam for a while and we would like to take a moment to warn you.

The scammers have been calling taxpayers acting as IRS agents.  The scammers give fake names and IRS badge numbers, tell the taxpayer that they owe back taxes and then threaten the victims with legal action, arrest, or even deportation.  The scammers then try to persuade the victims to pay over the phone.  Be warned!  “The IRS will always send taxpayers written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail.  The IRS never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone” (“IRS Reiterates Warning”).  If you receive any communication other than a letter from someone claiming to be an IRS agent do not give them any information!  Please contact us if you receive any IRS communication to verify the authenticity of said communication.

Please help to spread this information and shut these scammers down!
